Wananavu Beach Resort is located on the north coast of Viti Levu, perfectly located to offer divers an ideal balance of fabulous diving on some of Fiji’s most popular, but also some undiscovered sites, as well as a great opportunity to relax in beautiful surroundings whilst enjoying delightful Fijian hospitality.
Two and a half hours away from Nadi (by road transfer), Wananavu Beach Resort comprises 34 deluxe Bures and the 4 bedroom Villa Vanua all set in tropical gardens. Bures are either on the hillside or located along the beach with splendid sea views. Wananavu know exactly what is required for ultimate relaxation. You can enjoy lounging on the sundeck with tremendous views, or find a hammock and take your book or evening cocktail to round off the diving day. None of the rooms at Wananavu have a television!
All bures at Wananavu are en-suite and air conditioned. Each has a minibar and tea and coffee making facilities. Garden View Bures are set in the tropical gardens of Wananavu. Four one bedroom bures sleep two guests in a Queen sized bed and one two bedroom bure sleeps up to four guests in a Queen and two single beds. The wooden construction is simple and elegant. Ocean View Bures are situated just above and below the main complex and offer uninterrupted views of the sea from the hillside. Interiors are light and airy, little need for the air conditioning! Fourteen One bedroom Ocean View Bures sleep two guests in a King sized bed. Beach Front Villas are just steps away from the sea and palm trees. These large, tastefully appointed bungalows have cool tiles floors, a small seating area and a private plunge pool. Eight one bedroom Beach Front Bures sleep two guests and a two bedroom Beach Front Villa can sleep up to four guests in a Queen sized bed and two single beds. Ocean View Honeymoon Bures offer those seeking romance several added extra touches of luxury. These bures, each one furnished in modern, vibrant designs have their own plunge pool, large lounge area and iPod docking station as well as an outdoor and an indoor shower! 3 Ocean View Honeymoon Bures sleep one couple in a King sized bed. One Beach Front Honeymoon Bure enjoys enhanced ocean views. Large families or groups might consider the Villa Vanua that can sleep up to 10 guests in four large bedrooms. You will feel like you are on a movie set as you enjoy all the modern conveniences such as a 10 metre swimming pool, full kitchen and state of the art audio-visual system.
Food is a vital ingredient of any stay at Wananavu. The chefs combine local and international flavours to deliver an ever-changing menu. Breakfast is served buffet style and guests choose from a range of fruits, cereals, fresh bread, muffins and juices. Cooked breakfasts can be ordered a la carte. Lunch and dinner are waiter service and dishes include such delights as Fish ‘n’ Chips Fijian style; herb battered walu fillets and fries, or native lime chicken breast, or poached local fish with pawpaw salsa. Picnic lunches are available daily should you wish to eat on the beach. Lovo Night is a perennial fixture at Wananavu. Here you can witness the traditional Fijian method of cooking; food is wrapped in banana leaves and burined in the ground with hot stones for several hours before being uncovered later on to eat. The range of drinks available at Wananavu is quite mezmerising. The wine list is comprehensive and reasonably priced whilst the list of cocktails is enough to make you dizzy before you even take a sip of one! Beers and soft drinks are also available.
The Wai Spa, set atop the rolling slope of Wananavu offers an array of treatments from massages to facials, and from manicures and pedicures to body wraps and waxing.
The on-site dive centre, Dive Wananavu is an excellent base for exploring the famous Bligh waters north of Viti Levu. The staff of the PADI Gold Palm centre can take beginners and advanced divers alike to sites that have something for everyone. Dive Wananavu operates three boats with a total capacity of 30 divers. Most days are two tank dive days but a third dive of the day and night dives are available. All boats have shade and nitrox is available. Gear rental and a full range of PADI courses can be arranged locally.
For non-divers, or divers seeking a bit of extra adventures, Wananavu can arrange a whole host of activities, half-day and full day trips. Beach picnics, horse riding and village tours are the more usual activities on offer whilst those seeking more adventure might enjoy the waterfall tours and fishing or rafting trips. Activities are also available at the resort, some for no extra cost, such as crab racing, coconut husking and cookery classes.
